1. USMLEWORLD and Rapid Review audios which were a great source of study. 2. I had taken Step 2 CK approximately 1 year before so my knowledge for the test was relatively fresh, that helped a lot!. The big question on Step 3 is : what is the best initial therapy, what is the best initial step, so that is what you must learn. For CK it was what is the diagnosis most of the time, but that is not the case for Step 3, it is really doable even if you are not into residency, I wasn't and I am happy that I took the test. USMLEWORLD + MTB is enough for the MCQ, nonetheless the RR audios helped me a lot. USMLEWORLD is all you need for the CCS. 3. Exam is pretty much the same as for Step 2 CK, second day goes flying.

Day 2 was much better esp CCS Take 3-4 months tops for prep, practice questions at least 2wice both banks, Take NBME and UWSA, do CCS every day, dont panic in exam, do your best hope for best

I am a recently graduated Canadian med student who needed the Step 3 in order to get an H1B visa. I had studied for the LMCC for a month before starting to study for the Step 3, which was helpful. I did mostly questions; I looked through the Crush Step 3 and First Aid Step 3 books but didn't think they were extremely helpful. It is a must to do practice questions for the case simulations; I used the USMLE World CCS question bank and the NBME one. If you don't do anything else, be sure to do the cases from the NBME website. I found it helpful to bring the corrections of those cases with me on test day to look over on breaks. Good luck!

I prepared only U world questions and CCS cases. Exam is very long(as usual), and i found there is more stress on patient- physician relations and ethics.... this is wat tested in step 3.. diagnostic and management questions are answerable.. BUT STRESS ON ETHICS........ CCS cases will b easy if u r well prepared with u world simulation cases. ALL THE BEST

Books used: ~ First Aid for USMLE Step 3 ~ Lange Q&A for USMLE Step 3 ~ Kaplan QBook for USMLE Step 3 Mistakes: ~ I should have enrolled in Kaplan. For CCS: ~ use the USMLE CD for practice, especially the typing and orders. ~ use the CD also for practicing the most common diseases seen, e.g., lead poisoning, infection, etc. ~ know BLS & ACLS by heart. Mistakes on CCS: ~ I panicked when the patient was not responding to my orders.

Preparation time: (1 month) Revised Kaplan Step 2 CK: 12 days Usmle World MCQs: 9 days Usmle World CCS cases: 4 days Usmle Steps 123 CCS simulation: 2 days Revised CK Kaplan again: 2 days Study Materials used: I found Kaplan Step 3 notes irrelevant and did not use them. Rather STEP 2 CK Kaplan notes was very helpful. Try to take Step 3 as early as possible. You will be more fresh with CK and will find STEP 3 easier. Usmle World was really helpful for both MCQs and CCS. For CCS, in my opinion, Usmle World and Usmlesteps123 are more than enough. Musa’s 100 rules for CCS. Did not have time to watch videos. Exam experience: Unlike CK, you will find that most of the questions are vague in Step 3. I got a lot of questions from Geriatrics and most of them were difficult to answer. CCS: I was able to answer all of them from what I learnt and practiced from Usmle World and Usmle Steps123. Suggestions: Take Step 3 as early as possible. Some programs especially the H1b ones do expect your Step 3 result even to process your application. Score is not as important as your CK or Step1 score.
